With the deepening of cultural movements and the impact of leftism, the Taiwan Cultural Association split in
1927. Several groups appeared around the time of the split, which included the Taiwan Farmers’ Union, the
Taiwanese Communist Party, the Taiwanese People’s Party, the Taiwan Workers League, and the League for the Attainment of Local Self-Government in Taiwan. Each of the groups represented varying political standing points. (Elanor Hsinho Wang)
