Poem: Plum Blossoms/ The Ancients Praise of Plum Blossoms

Han Ching- Lien

Although the frame of this painting is not in accordance with the traditional method, the poem and painting complement each other well, showing the elegant sense of the painting. Han Ching-Lian was famous for his landscape ink paintings and was honored by Chao Tien-Hsing as one of the "Four Gentlemen of Chiayi Art," which is a clear indication of his noble character. The book is a seven-character poem by the Song Dynasty poet Chen Yu-Yi, " Concord with Zhang Gui-Chen's Ink Plum Blossoms," in which he recites the beauty of the plum blossoms.
