in the U.S. was completed when Venerable Master was 62 years old, which was the starting point for Fo Guang Shan's international propagation. At 65, Venerable Master established the first FGS Center in Paris, France, launching Dharma propagation in Europe. At 67, the construction of the largest Buddhist Center in Africa-Nan Hua Temple, started. At 70, Nan Tien Temple in Australia was inaugurated, gaining momentum for the propagation of Humanistic Buddhism in the Southern Hemisphere.

World Sutric and Tantric Buddhist Conference was held at Fo Guang Shan, with the attendance of 4 major leaders of Tantric Buddhism, scholars and experts from around the world.

Praised as the largest temple in North America, the U.S. branch—Hsi Lai Temple, was inaugurated, during which the Ten-thousand Buddhas Triple Platform Full Ordination Ceremony was also conducted, the first such Chinese Buddhist ceremony to be held in the Western world.

Hsing Yun’s Dharma Words on CTS won Golden Bell Awards in the Social Development category.
Founded the University of the West (then Hsi Lai University) in the U.S.

Groundbreaking Ceremony of FGS Nan Hua Temple in South Africa.
