In the advanced age of 90, Venerable Master reflected that the greatest blessing in life is having become a monk who holds Dharma propagation as his lifelong mission. He said,"Being 90 years old now, if you ask me if I have any regrets? I would say it's the fact that I am not the gruel-and-rice monastic that I've always wanted to be." Venerable Master self-mockingly said that he once only wanted to be the monastic cooking for the temple, but ended up creating a large religious organization in the world because of his power of vow that had accomplished a Pure Land on earth.

Suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke, Venerable Master received a craniotomy surgery at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. The blood clot was successfully removed.

A collection of Venerable Master’s life’s work - Complete Works of Venerable Venerable Master Hsing Yun was published with a total of 365 volumes.

Venerable Master’s “Post-Surgery One-Stroke Calligraphy” was displayed inside Fo Guang Shan’s Light Transmission Building. All proceedings will go to the “Seeds of Good Hope Program”.

Nan Tien Institute, Australia was approved to establish the Humanistic Buddhism Centre.
On February 5th,2023, Venerable Master passed away peacefully inside the Fo Guang Shan Light Transmission Building ── Founder's Quarters
