Fo Guang Shan—The Starting Point of a Beautiful Life Every frame of a picture, be it the day of tonsurement or conferment of graduation degree, is a moment that brings us closer to our buddha-nature. A master director of life, so happens to be him—Venerable Master Hsing Yun. Half a century ago, 12 silver coins was all that the Venerable Master had when he came to Taiwan. With the aspiration of promoting Humanistic Buddhism, he built Shou Shan Temple and founded Shou Shan Buddhist College to lay the groundwork for Buddhism in southern Taiwan. In order to cultivate more talents, he expanded Shou Shan Buddhist College and renamed it Eastern Buddhist College. After decades of development while keeping a low profile, Fo Guang Shan started to catch public attention during the process of expansion, which then bloomed into a Humanistic Pure Land. How fortunate are we to be able to flourish under the leadership of Venerable Master!
