Description:
The current space for the dead is only a moment on the timeline of the base, but people can only see the use of the current situation and are in awe. If the stories that have happened can be converted into anchor points to connect people, can they dilute death from a new perspective? The established impression of space may also be the possibility that the Chinese society can truly accept the place of death.
Memories and stories are added and faded out over time. The location of the dead space seen now on the base’s past and future time axis may be only a moment, because they can’t see their different appearances and choose to stay away. Can once again realize the story of the land once again how to define the meaning of the place again?
There are also many martyrs' shrines in Taiwan that take advantage of location to join sightseeing activities, but people will always only step into the activity area after they arrive, and they will still feel awe and fear of entering the space related to the dead. When the martyrs and the war behind them recorded in the Martyrs’ Shrine are farther and farther away from us, what does commemorativeness mean to us? Whether it will eventually become a so-called historical attraction but cannot connect us.
Try to find the connection between modern people and commemorativeness from the base, let people experience the past stories and environment on the base, let people understand the passage of timeline and the passing of the past to reinterpret the possibility of commemorativeness. The Martyrs’ Shrine or the space related to the deceased shouldn’t be just a space for people to feel awe or place tablets. Maybe they can try to let people come into contact with their lives or stories, and let people know that they have also been in the past. Live like us.
When people are not mentioning the dead, it means that they are dead. It may be a long process for people to accept and truly step into the dead space, but when we try to change, it will be a singular point of change.
