Education Endeavors in the Five Continents
In Venerable Master's mind, in order to propagate Buddhism,
one must set his eyes on the whole world. Only by stepping out
into the world, allowing Buddhism to be humanized, internationalized, and modernized, uniting people's efforts at the same time, and disregarding each other's differences, can Buddhism's purifying influence on the human minds be accomplished. For this reason, Fo Guang Shan established various language
courses in 1967, and has since continued to progress towards internationalization. Starting from 1994, other than the Foreign Students' Program, Buddhist Colleges were subsequently established across the five continents as well. For example, a total of sixteen Buddhist Colleges across the world such as Dong Zen Institute of Buddhist Studies in Malaysia, Africa Buddhist Seminary, Indian Buddhist College, Nan Tien Buddhist College in
Australia, and Hong Kong Buddhist College have been established with the objectives of Internationalization and localization for Buddhism, and to bring the power of Dharma propagation into full gear.
