Publishing Enterprises
In 1959, Venerable Master Hsing Yun established Buddhist Culture and Services Center in Taipei. With the changing times, it has been renamed with each restructuring. For example, it has been named “The Buddhist Culture Bookstore,” the “Fo Guang Publishing House,” and the “Fo Guang Cultural Enterprise” as the number of published contents increased. After the Fo Guang Shan International Translation Center was founded in 1996, Buddhist sutras and books have been translated into more than two dozen languages. In 2001, Buddha Light Publishing was founded in the United States in order to promote the circulation and readership of Buddhist books. The Gandha Samudra Culture company was established in 1997, and has been publishing Buddhist works on art and popular literature. Additionally, the Fo Guang Cultural Enterprise Malaysia was officially established in 1999 for audiences who read Simplified Chinese. Established in 2008, the Shanghai Dajue Culture Communication Co. Ltd, also publishes Simplified Chinese books to promote societal harmony and purity.
