“Listen to Steam” Organ is one of the public art works in the Kaohsiung Station Public Art Project “Kaohsiung Station Empathic Space.” It was designed and planned by studio HOU x LIN, led by architects Lin Wan-chen and Hou Qing-mou, manufactured by the Hungarian POM Organ Company, and installed in the central sunken plaza of Kaohsiung Station.
At every hour, this golden organ plays music, transforming the concepts of train whistles and bronze bell chimes into sound, creating a unique sonic landmark for Kaohsiung. Shaped like steam, the instrument quickly drew wide attention. In the station space, people can both see and hear the music of the organ—experiencing the rhythm and culture of the city.
