The aim of Awakening the World Periodical is to awaken people from the illusory nature of the world and better the world through Buddhist teachings. Since its debut issue in 1957, the Periodical has accompanied its readers for more than half a century. In 1962,the Venerable Master assumed management of the Periodical, which published an issue every 10 days. He took charge of practically everything from writing, soliciting article submissions, layout design, to proofreading and publishing. Although he later resigned as editor, he nevertheless continued for the Periodical. The publication's distribution network has spread in more than 30 countries. In 2000, the Merit Times released its first issue in the form of a daily newspaper to closely track happenings around the
world. "Awakening the World" Periodical was then adapted into the "Awakening the World" section of the newspaper.
