Continued Education
In order to realize his ideal in fostering talents, Venerable Master Hsing Yun has dedicated his life to the active promotion of education. In 1949, he crossed the ocean to Taiwan, and subsequently found settlement at Lei Yin Temple in Yilan during 1953. In 1956, he established the first Buddhist kindergarten - Tzu Ai Kindergarten. Up until today, Fo Guang Shan's education system is an umbrella of universities, elementary and junior high schools, kindergartens, and continued education for devotees. From kindergarten to university, a complete system for lifetime learning is provided. During the crucial periods of the。shaping of a child's personality, students are educated on humanities and life, and are aided in the development of compassion, gratitude, and generosity in their characters.
