Health Line in Carbon Tracing - From Heartful Craft to the Life Exploration of Carbon Footprints

At a time when the world stands amid the intensifying crisis of climate change and a deepening imbalance in the natural environment, “sustainability” can no longer remain a rhetorical aspiration. It has become one of the defining questions of our time — one that humanity must collectively confront. Since 2007, Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute has advanced the idea of “Green Craft,” which is a pursuit of living aesthetics and environmental stewardship, guided by nature. In 2026, the curatorial theme “Carbon Tracing” means to detect and analyze the carbon emissions associated with craft practices, including exhibited works, sources of materials, production processes, display structures, exhibition installation, logistics and transportation, human mobility, and energy and water consumption. It traces the full life cycle of objects — from material selection and production process, circular use, artwork transport, and waste disposal — applying low-carbon ecological principles and examining how craft contributes to contemporary ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) value frameworks.
