bamboo stool

Shih Chien University/ Industrial Design Department / Advisor: Sally Lin / Bamboo artisan: Yeh Chi-Hsiang / Artist: Chang-Chien Shi-Yang

[The 2010 New Craft FUN – the New Craft Talent Enrolment Project] Material: Moso bamboo, teak Size: 32x48cm In the past, traditional plastic stools with their rounded, lightweight designs were quite popular at snack shops in alleys. The common memory of Taiwanese people sitting and enjoying snack food carried by this stool is now reinterpreted by using bamboo, which infused the original plastic stool with the warm, cultural essence of bamboo. “Bamboo” serves as a means to establish a new connection between the local people and the everyday objects of their memories.
