The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute (NTCRI), under the Ministry of Culture, is dedicated to promoting craft culture, invigorating the craft industry, and building a robust craft ecosystem in Taiwan. Its primary scope encompasses craft research and innovation, talent cultivation, craft material testing and authentication, research, publications and exhibitions, craft collection and value-added applications, regional craft development, aesthetic education, brand certification, industry guidance, and international cooperation.

Crafts originate from daily life and are fundamentally human-centered. Taiwan boasts a diverse craft culture that continues to pursue growth and embrace change in a rapidly evolving contemporary landscape. Through an interdisciplinary curatorial approach, she bridges culture, industry, and everyday life, transforming exhibitions into platforms for knowledge exchange, emotional engagement, and public participation. Throughout her career, she has contributed to numerous projects in cultural development, design innovation, industrial transformation, and urban revitalization, continually exploring how design can respond to contemporary social and environmental challenges.
For Embracing Craft for Carbon Tracing: Taiwan Craft Low-Carbon Aesthetics Exhibition, she developed Low-Carbon Aesthetics as the exhibition's central curatorial concept. Beginning with materials, production, waste reutilization, and circular regeneration, the exhibition highlights the individuals and organizations across Taiwan that have quietly dedicated themselves to environmental sustainability. Through five curatorial themes—Life, Wisdom, Emotion, Health, and Sustainability—visitors are invited to discover the stories behind each work and reflect on how craft can embody sustainable values in everyday life. Beyond appreciating beautifully crafted objects, the exhibition encourages mindful consumption and demonstrates how craftsmanship can become a powerful force in promoting environmental sustainability.

“Carbon-Tracing Craft” is more than an exhibition — it is a lake of living ripples, inviting us to rethink the flow of aesthetics and sustainability. Taiwan’s low-carbon craft embodies a “Perfectly balanced — Not too much, not too little” philosophy: restrained in materials, thoughtful in design, meticulous in technique, caring in use, and respectful in growth, which is deemed a cyclical ethic of altruism. It challenges overproduction and waste, causing the Earth’s overexploitation, thereby leading to ecological imbalance. Notwithstanding, we are called to reconnect with the essence of craft — harmony between people, objects, nature, and life. From this lake of living waters, Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute transforms Taiwan’s heritage into lasting value.
At the heart of the exhibition lies a simple mission: to turn every craft into a story of low-carbon living and to make every act of creation an enduring promise to our Earth. Through Carbon Tracing — from soil to all forms of life, from individuals to communities, from overabundance to simplicity — we invite everyone to engage with the living thread of sustainable craft aesthetics.
This exhibition presents craft as both a guardian of culture and a pioneer of sustainable living. In an AI-driven era, where technology speeds up information, production, and decision-making, craft remains human-centered — sensitive to life’s rhythms and perceptual depth — opening new possibilities in which Human-heart Intelligence (HI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) complement each other.
Grounded in local materials, the craft responds to climate change and resource limits by weaving a carbon-conscious philosophy of living, which enables technological efficiency and human warmth to coexist harmoniously. While AI enhances precision and efficiency, HI (Human-heart Intelligence) preserves human perception and values, and in the interplay between the two, they envision craft as a bridge linking technology, life, and nature. This is Taiwan’s gift to the world: a low-carbon aesthetic for mindful, ethical living.

Taiwan’s distinctive sky lantern culture and bamboo lanterns have rich cultural heritage, which is a precious element we wish to extend into everyday life. From their forms and concepts, we translated and designed a series of lighting fixtures, where we incorporated the advantages of bamboo weaving and bamboo materials.
