丁右尉的大學生涯可說是在校園的玻璃工坊度過，因教授施富錡的鼓勵，開始在青春歲月裡以玻璃工藝留下獨特記憶、也逐漸自我實現。以自學為主的他，在網路社 群上看見國外玻璃吹製工藝家的創作，繁複的工序下創造出有趣的效果，卻似乎不 曾在台灣見過，深入研究後得知為義大利傳統技法「滾筒馬賽克」，憑藉著「趁年輕」的心態，義無反顧投入大量時間成本與心力持續實驗、學習與精進技術，歷時5 年才自認成熟駕馭「滾筒馬賽克」的能力，並以 《Mist - 霧湧ll》作為5年來的技術 成果與結晶。《Mist - 霧湧ll》首先將白色玻璃拉成細絲後捲起製成有如麻花紋的直 徑一公分玻璃條，等距裁切後整齊排列呈長方形，接著經過圓周率精準計算捲起、 完整包覆於玻璃後，才吹製成形。有別於市面上滾筒馬賽克技法製出的光滑明亮， 《Mist - 霧湧ll》 以半透明的果凍般質感呈現，表達自身初出社會時霧裡看花的心 境，亦是經過多方嘗試才得以製成的突破。
Ding You-Wei spent most of his university days in the campus glass studio. Encouraged by his professor, Shih Fu-Chi, he began creating unique memories and realized his potential through glass art. Primarily self-taught, Ding discovered intricate glassblowing techniques online that created fascinating effects rarely seen in Taiwan. His research led him to the Italian traditional technique known as "roller mosaic." Driven by a "seize the day" mindset, Ding devoted five years of experimentation and refinement to mastering this technique. “Mist” represents the culmination of his hard-earned skills.
The piece begins with pulling white glass into thin strands, which are then rolled into 1 cm diameter braid-like rods. These rods are cut to precise lengths and meticulously arranged in a rectangular shape. Using exact calculations of circumference, they are rolled and seamlessly fused onto the glass surface before being blown into form. Unlike the smooth and glossy finish typical of roller mosaic works, Mist exudes a semi-translucent, jelly-like texture, reflecting Ding’s sense of navigating life with blurred clarity during his early career. This creation signifies both technical innovation and emotional depth.

玻璃工藝品牌Dinglass創辦人，同時也是恩榮電器 ABOON Lighting 專屬的玻璃燈具訂製工藝家，1992年生，畢業自國立臺灣藝術大學工藝設計學系。丁右尉從大二起，因熱血年輕教授的鼓勵與同儕力量，展開校園玻璃工坊的摸索、學習與創作生活，自認為是不會讀書的魯蛇學生因玻璃工藝有了人生轉機，也受到周遭前輩的鼓勵而堅定投入玻璃藝術領域。 獨創銀澄氣泡玻璃技法，也乘著強烈的創作驅動力，以臺灣罕見的義大利傳統玻璃工藝技法「滾筒馬賽克」 打造玻璃藝術創作，亦在創作與訂製路上持續突破玻璃工業的標準作業流程，全方位探索玻璃工藝的變化與可能性。
Din You-Wei, the founder of the glass craft brand Dinglass and a custom glass lighting artisan for ABOON Lighting, was born in 1992 and graduated from the Department of Crafts and Design at National Taiwan University of the Arts. His journey into glasscraft began during his sophomore year, inspired by a passionate young professor and the encouragement of his peers. Immersed in the campus glass studio, Din discovered his calling in the art of glassmaking. Though he describes himself as an underachieving student who struggled academically, glasscraft became a transformative turning point in his life. It ignited his passion and solidified his dedication to the field.
Din developed the innovative Silver Clear Bubble Glass technique and, driven by a relentless creative spirit, incorporated Italy's rare traditional glassmaking method, "Roller Mosaic," into his work.Today, Din pushes the boundaries of conventional glass industry practices. Through both his artistic creations and bespoke designs, he continues to explore the evolving possibilities of glasscraft, redefining its potential with every piece he creates.
