Hung Jui-Liang

"Digital technology shortens the time required to become a master. Through digital craftsmanship, the creative process becomes more efficient and flexible." Hung Jui-Liang combines digital media with traditional craftsmanship to push creative boundaries. He sees digital tools as aids to enhance expression, not replacements for traditional techniques. For instance, in his metalwork, he uses digital technology for sculpting but relies on traditional methods for polishing, casting, and assembly. In teaching, Hung highlights how digital tools can speed up learning and enable creators to produce professional works quickly. However, he insists that traditional craftsmanship remains essential for adding depth and emotion to creations. By blending the two, he expands the possibilities of personal and artistic expression. Hung Jui-Liang has had a strong passion for art since childhood, focusing on the field of Engineering Art. In 2011, he founded Perkūnas Studio to combine 3D printing and engineering techniques, concentrating on the creation of metal casting works. His distinctive artistic style often revolves around contemporary themes and beasts, using metal-crafted "bionic creatures" to convey the profound connection between nature and life. The Beast series in his works not only demonstrates his precise observation of natural forms, but also incorporates mechanical technology, giving the pieces a sense of dynamic while provoking thoughts on the boundaries between machinery and living creatures. Through these works, he questions contemporary society's pursuit of automation and explores the complex relationship between humanity, nature, and technology.
