串鈴紋 cinusu

BOB Jian

Dimensions: Bust: 110 cm; Waist: 84 cm; Hips: 110 cm Materials: Polyester fiber In traditional Paiwan life, people would string together bells, keys, or beads to count the days, adding one object for each day. Knots were also sometimes used to mark time. Drawing on the ideas of “connecting, accumulating, and recording,” designer BOB Jian transforms the rhythms of strung bells, beadwork, and knotted cords into the patterns, layers, and forms of clothing. Rather than directly reproducing traditional dress, the work reinterprets it through contemporary materials and design, allowing Paiwan everyday wisdom to continue in a new form through clothing and the body.
