「蘭陽八景」起源來自臺灣清治時期的噶瑪蘭廳通判烏竹芳選定「舊蘭陽八景」，後因宜蘭民選縣長為重整文獻四處尋訪而得出現今的「新蘭陽八景」，以溪北山麓及濱海一帶作為宜蘭縣重要的八個風景名勝。
「KAVALAN裏霧」是以新蘭陽八景為主軸，由感官認知轉換為視覺表現，以影像紀錄、觸碰地質與實地走訪等元素集結成冊。

The “Old Eight Sights of Lanyang” was first named by Wu Chufang, a local magistrate in Kavalan Prefecture during the rule of the Qing dynasty of Taiwan. An elected magistrate of Yilan County then came up with the “New Eight Sights of Lanyang” after researching the old archives. The mountain ridge of Xibei and the coast were chosen as the eight most important sights in Yilan County.
“KAVALAN Inside” is based on the New Eight Sights of Lanyang. Sensory perception is converted into visual expression, with video records, texture and on-site visits all bound into the book. In each chapter, a description of the eight sights is given from the perspective of Yilan locals.
