1956-1959

In 1956, Venerable Master continued his endeavor in promoting Buddha's birthday parades. Back then Yilan had a population of 50,000, out of which 30,000 were actually attracted by the parade on the day. Having caused a sensation, the friendliness of Buddhism touched people's heart that even local celebrities began to value Buddhism. In 1957, Yian Buddhist Chanting Association’s Buddha’s birthday celebrations ran from May 5th to 7th. Events included a cross-county promotion, a lantern parade, and a grand ceremony. The parade included Buddha statue float, a Western music band, a Chinese music band, a fife and drum Corp, a bicycle team, and a firework show, which attracted thousands of people. The parade floats in 1958 even extended across 10 kilometers in distance. On May 14th, 1959, Venerable Master led Yilan Buddhist Chanting Association in organizing a Buddha's birthday celebration by having a lantern and costume parade. It was attended by a crowd of over 10,0000. and indeed created a very memorable moment.
