BLIA Verse
May kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity pervade all Dharma realms;
May all beings benefit from our blessings and friendship;
May our practice of Chan, Pureland, and Precepts help us
to realize equality and patience;
May we undertake the Great Vows with humility and gratitude.
The BLIA Flag
The BLIA Flag consists of five vertical stripes on the left and five horizontal stripes across the bottom.
The blue, yellow, red, white, and orange are the colors of the Buddhist flag, which symbolize the Five Vehicles of Buddhism and the races of the world living in peace and harmony.
Blue: universal compassion and peace.
Yellow: the Middle Path, which avoids extremes and brings liberation.
Red: the blessings of virtue, wisdom, and dignity that result from practice.
White: the purity of the Buddha's teachings and the liberation it brings.
Orange: the unshakeable wisdom of the Buddha's teachings.
The horizontal stripes representing the people of the world living in harmony and the vertical stripes representing eternal world peace.
Meaning of the BLIA Emblem
The circle symbolizes unhindered wholeness, while the lotus symbolizes untainted purity. The circle symbolizes the secular world, while the lotus symbolizes the supermundane world. The circle symbolizes the undeveloped Buddha nature, while the lotus symbolizes the accomplished Buddha wisdom. The circle symbolizes the globe, while the lotus symbolizes the radiating Buddha's light.
