Hakka tea and rice

Jung, Chien

- In Hakka and Hokkien dialects, tea leaves are called "tea rice", indicating that in the minds of the ancestors, tea leaves were as precious as rice. I chose to preserve the most primitive texture of the earth and showcase the simplest and most rustic aspects of Hakka rural culture, and carved the image of the continuous mountain range of Hengshan on the pottery teapot. The tight arrangement of bamboo weaving represents the local culture of Hengshan Township, the gathering of people, emotional connections, the transmission of taste, and love for their hometown, all intertwined and carried in the vessel.
