作品名稱 Title: 生活的容器_東門市場再造 The Shape of Life_Tumgmen Market Redesign 指導老師 Adviser: 李宜蓉 基地位置 Location: 新竹/舊城區 Old town/Hsinchu 作品介紹 Description: 北台灣最早開發的地區是新竹舊城,這塊土地承載了三百多年堆疊出的的文化和生活紋理,在台灣高科技產業重鎮的光環下,以及科學園區帶來大量年輕移入者,越來越多「新竹人」忽略了新竹真正的根基。舊城區的休憩空間分布在外圍,且呈現擁擠的狀態,加上風大多雨的氣候特徵,使得人們很少在街道和廣場活動,人們轉往同質性高且易被取代的百貨公司消磨時間。以此現象切入東門市場再利用的方式,提供人們日常休憩的空間,以彌補秋冬時風城所缺失的休憩空間及都市活動,並藉此把人群帶往我的基地及舊城。 基地選址 在舊城與市中心交界的東門市場,成立至今一百二十年歷史,帶起了興也經歷了衰,承載許多舊城故事,且它被建築物包圍無直接臨主要道路,像是藏在城市裡的寶藏。 基地現況 與四周鄰房貼近,存在著居住隱私與公共的介面問題。這兩年開始有年輕人進駐市場一樓,因此不同時段皆有人群活動,也帶動老商家的生意,但止於一樓。 設計操作 一、三樓選擇輕輕地介入,保留原有活動,維持已形成的人與人、人與商家網絡,並使人潮延伸至閒置的二樓及三樓的青創,創造當地居民與對舊城不了解的人有互動機會。 一樓置入了景觀空間並移除閒置中攤位,利用天井的垂直視線,產生對二樓探索的動機。二樓僅留下柱樑結構,空間形式以玻璃文化方向置入。轉化玻璃產生的原理—玻璃漿受到空氣及器具的擠壓而產生出不同的形狀,以一樓的攤位位置及二樓的柱樑當作框架,決定出天井形狀、牆體路徑及球體空間的位置,以空間感受取代展覽形式,並在框架與自由中創造出都市中的角落空間,引發都市活動的發生,也藉此引導人們探索更多不同面貌的新竹。 吃碗貢丸湯,來場漫遊吧! 從舊城的生活足跡裡發現人們口中「無聊的新竹」所藏匿的美好。 The earliest developed area in northern Taiwan is the Old town of Hsinchu. This land has carried the culture and life textures that have been stacked for more than three hundred years. Under the aura of Taiwan’s high-tech industrial stronghold,plus the Hsinchu Science Park has brought a large number of young immigrants. More and more "Hsinchu people" have overlooked the true foundation of Hsinchu. The rest spaces in the old town are distributed on the periphery and be overcrowded. Coupled with the weather characteristics of wind and rain, people seldom move in streets and squares. They move to department stores that are highly homogeneous and easily replaced to spend their time instead. Beacause of this phenomenon,I wonder to create a way of reusing the Dongmen market to provide people with daily rest space, to make up for the lack of rest space and urban activities in the windy city in autumn and winter, also bring people to my site and the old city. Site selection At the junction of the old town and the city center, Dongmen Market have been established for 120 years. It has witness the age of prosperity and decline. It carries many stories of the old town.It is surrounded by buildings and has no direct access to the main road,just like the treasures stashed away in the city. Current status of site The market is too close to the neighboring building around, cause the problems about the interface between privacy of residence and public. In the past two years, young people have entered the first floor of the market. Therefore, there are crowd activities at different times and also promote the business of old stores, but this phenomenon only exists on the first floor of the market. Design analysis On the third floor I choose to intervene gently, retain the original activities, maintain the formed net of people and people, people and businesses.I also extend the crowd to the second and the third floor of the idle youth creative studio.I hope to create the local residents and the People who don’t know the old city could have the opportunity to interact. I removed the stalls which has been idle,so the landscape space can be placed on the first floor .And I used the vertical sight of the patio to generate motivation for exploring the second floor. Only the column and beam structure is left on the second floor, and the space form is placed in the direction with the glass culture. The principle of the production of converted glass——glass paste is squeezed by air and appliances to produce different shapes. The position of the booth on the first floor and the pillars and beams on the second floor are used as frames to determine the shape of the patio, the path of the wall, and the space of the sphere. The location replaces the exhibition form with the feeling of space, and creates a corner space in the city in the frame and freedom, which triggers the occurrence of urban activities, and also guides people to explore more different aspects of Hsinchu. Eat a bowl of tribute ball soup, come and roam! From the footprints of life in the old city, we can discover the beauty hidden in the "boring Hsinchu".
