本系碩士班乃因應我國南部地區缺乏視覺傳達設計高層研究人力而籌設，基於實際情況考量，宜成立涵蓋理論及創作並重的研究場域，以消弭理論與實務間的差距；本系大學部，針對前述成立背景及設計理由而創立，一來源於肩負提升視覺設計人力的藝術素質，解決當今偏重專業技術培育導向而失衡的設計人力，二來著實本著以藝術為本位，文化為內涵，以培育藝術與科技素養兼備的人才，為發展之軸心與依循。另一方面，本系設置於藝術學院，旨在著重藝術品味與美感素養，並以人文科學之精神與哲學論證的學理，來強化高級設計教育的本質。

「家用五金零件」是我們日常生活中不可或缺卻又很少注意到的存在，環顧一下四周的物件，會發現五金標準件充斥在我們每一個生活角落。以日常、實用、環保的設計定位，並且針對不同的五金標準件設計出合適、方便拿取、能夠重複使用的五金結構包裝，改善市面現有的一次性、難以辨識的五金標準件包裝，提升家用五金包裝的視覺美學以及實用性。

Hardware parts are necessary to our daily lives, while few people notice them. Look around you, hardware parts are actually everywhere. The main point of our design is useful in daily life, and eco-friendly. We design different packages for different kinds of hardware parts. With our design, it would be easier to grab the hardware parts and reuse the packages. It’s different from the packages sold in markets, which are disposable and hard to recognize the items from the outside.
