作品名為初羹，初次的初，肉羹的羹，同時也有用台灣口語說「吃羹」的俏皮口音的含義在。
根據調查發現，臺灣沒有專屬於自己飲食文化代表的餐具，舉例來說，日本有茶缽、韓國有扁筷、美國有卡布奇諾杯，但反過來思考台灣明明也有豐富的在地美食，卻沒有一組專屬於自身飲食文化代表的食器，這也促使我們想設計一組象徵台灣飲食文化的餐具的動力。
接著透過問卷調查、各項研究也發現，許多人在吃羹類食物上有遇到不好撈取的問題；此外，普遍裝羹類食物時，都使用塑膠袋或一次性容器盛裝，隨著現在環保意識抬頭、減塑口號提升，但同時亦想保留台灣傳統的盛裝羹類的容器—塑膠袋，因此初羹的整體材質便以玻璃的方式來取代塑膠。
因此，以解決使用者飲食上遇到的不便、象徵台灣文化意義、永續環保結合傳承在地飲食特色，以上三大特點便是初羹的設計主軸。

But there is no set of tableware that is exclusive to the representatives of our own food culture, which also motivates us to design a set of tableware that symbolizes Taiwan's food culture.
Then, through questionnaire surveys and various studies, it was also found that many people have problems with eating thick soups that are not easy to catch; in addition, plastic bags or disposable containers are generally used to pack thick soups. With the current The awareness of environmental protection is on the rise, but at the same time, we also want to preserve Taiwan's traditional soup containers—plastic bags, so the overall material of CHU GENG is glass instead of plastic.
Therefore, to solve the inconvenience encountered by users in eating, to symbolize the significance of Taiwanese culture, to combine sustainable environmental protection with the inheritance of local food characteristics, the above three characteristics are the main design concepts of CHU GENG.
