丁衍鏞深受八大山人簡筆畫影響，也涉獵兒童繪畫、原始藝術，將古代印章與繪畫的樸拙美感運用於水墨與油畫上，融會1950年代眼鏡蛇畫派的純樸與野獸派的色彩美感，展現出融合東西繪畫的嶄新面貌。他生前在中國大陸、台灣、香港展覽之外，也在法國、美國、日本以及澳洲等地展覽，成為戰後融會東西藝術的偉大畫家。丁衍鏞的創作以強烈的色彩、概括的造型及流暢的書法性線條為特徵，作品不但具備現代藝術的造型，亦透過利用構圖、甲骨文與篆刻藝術使作品富有中國文化的意趣舆精髓。丁氏以獨特的藝術風格，汲古潤今，成功調和了中、西方的美術，繪出屬於中國的西洋畫。

Artist

Ting Ying Yung 丁衍鏞

丁衍鏞（1902-1978）生於廣東茂名縣，時值清朝末年，傳統繼承與革新圖強強烈衝突。1920年他渡海東瀛，入東京川端美術學校，1921年入東京美術學校西畫科，1925年返國任教上海各地，一度在蔡元培支持下，出任中華藝術大學藝術教育科主任。1928年為廣州市立美術學校西畫教授，隔年任廣州市立博物館美術部主任近十年，奠定他融會東西藝術的基礎。抗戰期間，丁衍鏞流離到重慶，任教於國立藝術專科學校，1945年與林風眠、關良、趙無極、朱德群等十餘位畫家舉行第一屆獨立美展，1948年友人攜帶丁衍鏞等廣東名家作品百餘件在台北中山堂舉行聯展。1949年丁衍鏞避走香港，1951年起任教於香港各學院與大學。
