Tolerance

Rong-You, Cai |Taiwan’s Greatest Craftsman |獎 2011 National Crafts Achievement Award

Center Collection Pottery / 29.5 x 29.5 x 13.2cm Introduction The Tolerance Series is the result of the author's breakthrough after six years of technical research and development and experiments. This series of works expresses the concepts of ethnic integration, tolerance of dissent, and balanced social development. The low-temperature soft clay is used as the base, showing a natural light gray background. Only the top pottery plate is applied with a thick, high-temperature blue and white glaze. After being fired in a high-temperature kiln, a flowing pattern of glaze is produced, covering the upper part of the square utensil. The soft and flowing glaze, the white diagonal lines divided by hard lines on the top, the staggered rhombus and the static circle in the middle are very fashionable design and seem to call for the desire to overcome rigidity with softness and eliminate opposition and tolerate each other.
