白石畫廊很高興地宣布舉辦《神謳：京森康平個展》。 一直以來京森康平致力將裝飾藝術的精華引入繪畫表現中，不斷探索當今視覺語言的可能性。本次展覽除了帶來京森康平參考傳統工藝裝飾性所創作的作品外，也展出他近幾年研究宗教藝術與裝飾性的關係的新作。京森康平是一位有著堅定不移的主題和視角，並持續思考和實踐其視覺表現的裝飾藝術家及設計師。迄今為止，京森康平的創作一直對 1960 年代以來逐漸重視「觀念」（concept）的藝術趨勢保持批判。他研究了古今東西工藝與建築的裝飾性，蒐集了各式紋樣與圖案，開發出純粹由視覺完成的新視覺語言，展現新的非西歐藝術的可能性，並且重新審視藝術內在的原始力量和價值。 1985年出生於日本愛媛縣，京森康平透過當代觀點重新闡釋在古今中外的各種造型物上可見的裝飾，並將其應用至自己的平面作品中，建構獨特的視覺語言。京森對於由人類的手製作而成，並帶給人們視覺上感受的裝飾之本質深有同感，在徹底研究裝飾在陶藝、建築、衣服及印章等之中所發揮的作用及性質後，透過紮根於手工藝思維的製作技法將其作品化，其設計作品曾榮獲2019愛馬仕國際方巾設計大賽 (Grand Prix du Carré Hermès)首獎。京森的作品是經過不停反思裝飾的思想、美學及歷史後創作而成。當人們因為數位轉移漸漸不使用雙手，或是在逐漸遠離物品的現代中，物體的造型及表現價值為何、利用自己的雙手能創造出什麼，京森的作品提供一個重新追究人類基本活動的機會。 透過處理視覺表達和情感之間交雜的相互關係，京森康平深入研究感性的機制，從「我們被什麼樣的視覺信息感動？」提問，進而聚焦宗教藝術。宗教建築、繪畫、雕塑等，往往用「神性」、「神聖性」等詞語來形容，藝術家將這種情感視為視覺信息與感性對峙的結果，並將之作品化。展覽標題「Impression O」中的「O」來自於京森康平新的「O」系列，「O」也是「AWE」和「OH」兩個英文單詞的交集。擁有獨特的雙關涵義的「AWE」，傳達恐懼和敬畏的複雜感；以及發出欽佩與感嘆的詞語「OH」！京森康平探索人類在遇到超越性事物時，所感受到的「神性」和「敬畏」的特殊情感的誕生，以及體現裝飾的作用與意義，進而考察裝飾的存在對人類的影響。除新的O系列外，經典的「流動」、「R.E.P.」以及「日本藍」系列也在本次展覽展出。 京森康平認為浮世繪版畫是日本設計的根基，作品中也運用了浮世繪的技術。此次京森康平特別與京都百年手工木刻版畫出版社「芸艸堂」進行合作，製作限定版畫藝術品。芸艸堂創立於1891年，使用木版印刷技術製作各種藝術書籍和工藝品，其木版畫雕刻的製作方法與江戶時代的浮世繪製作技術相同，是日本唯一出版手工木版印刷書籍的出版社。白石畫廊也前往京都拍攝影片，記錄這次京森康平與芸艸堂難得的合作。邀請您一同欣賞京森康平的新展，他再次照亮與人類密不可分的裝飾文化世界，並將其巧妙地展現在藝術天地。

白石畫廊 Whitestone Gallery

1967年以東京為中心，於銀座創立畫廊以來，白石畫廊持續作為藝術業界中少數具先驅性的存在。2012年於輕井澤設立私人美術館「輕井澤新藝術美術館」，緊接著於2015年5月開設白石畫廊香港黃竹坑空間，翌年2016年開設香港荷里活道空間。 白石畫廊不僅將日本藝術家引介至國際市場，亦將世界藝術的潮流帶入日本，而在香港的兩年經驗則是將我們的視野開拓得更加寬廣的契機。於公於私都與台灣緣分深厚的白石畫廊，終於在2017年4月開設了台北空間，並邀請日本引以為傲的建築師隈研吾先生操刀設計，呈現具革新性的當代藝術展示空間。為進一步擴展展覽的多元性，2018年春天，我們將香港的兩個空間搬遷到世界級規模畫廊林立的藝術複合大樓「H Queen’s」，劃分為現代藝術與當代藝術兩層的白石畫廊新空間在此誕生。以國際都市香港為舞台，我們將掌舵前進，不局限於亞洲，與歐美的強大畫廊切磋琢磨。
