When the Venerable Master started Shou Shan Buddhist College, he broke the unwritten rule for tradional Buddhist colleges, which was that only monastics were accepted into the college. Lay students too can be admitted to Shou Shan. His vision allowed more Buddhist college graduates to reach out to society upon graduation. Having discovered the heavy chores in the temple affected students' normal class schedules, the Venerable Master decided to make the college an independent entity, giving students a simpler and exclusive environt to focus on learning the Dharma. The most unique feature of Shou Shan Buddhist College is "self-awareness education". Through the quidance of Dharma, they can experience the meanings and create values in life as they continue on their journeys of self-awakening.
