University of the West in the USA

University of the West in the USA I practiced calligraphy not for the sake of money, but as a way to spread joy. However, since many people are supportive of my calligraphic works, I issued comment stating, “If my works lead to generous giving I will use these donations as the founding fund for the University of the West." ~ Hsing Yun. “Buddhist Affinities Across 100 Years.” Kaohsiung: Fo Guang Publishing House, 2013. Many westerners have started universities in Taiwan, and so in return, Venerable Master Hsing Yun felt that a Buddhist university should be constructed in the West using the funds raised his calligraphic works. Today, the university of the West is the only university founded by Chinese people in USA. It is also accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), The university symbolizes a big step toward realizing the vision of "the Buddha's light shines universally, and the Dharma stream flows across the five continents."
