Material: Sandstone from Puli, hemp rope, nails
Size: 45x70x8.5cm
This work uses local Puli sandstone as its material and plays on material transformation, specifically, applying woodworking techniques, which and stone fabrication are both a subtractive process, to the stone. By ingeniously swapping the two materials, the stone’s appearance turns into a wood-like texture, and interestingly, seems like that the DNA of wood has been implanted into the stone.
