To let the unique flexibility of Taiwanese bamboos work, the world-renowned Brazilian design duo Fernando and Humberto Campana repeatedly heat-bent a single piece of Makino bamboo over 4 meters long to create continuous and changeable curves. They ingeniously left the char marks from the bending process visible, which contribute to the chair’s form and serve as its structural as well. Unlike any other before, this design not only sets a new standard for bamboo bending techniques but also marks a milestone in the artisans’ professional careers.
