Have you heard of Taiwanese rush grass?
It is a plant native to central Taiwan. The most suitable place for it to grow is along the lower reaches of the Da’an River, in the present-day Dajia and Yuanli areas.
Tough, breathable, and carrying a gentle natural fragrance, rush grass has long been appreciated for its beautiful qualities. It has been widely used in weaving for nearly 300 years, taking on many different forms and expressions—from comfortable, cooling Dajia mats and breathable sun-shading straw hats, to small and charming woven animals.
This bracelet combines two of Xiquan’s main natural plant fibers: Taiwanese rush grass and Madagascar raffia. Raffia is known for its strength and durability, and is also regarded as a “grass of love,” symbolizing faithful, lasting, and unwavering affection.
