市場與市集本質在台灣源自都市裡之街道、巷弄、騎樓等在都市中主要被視為交通動線及人潮往來之通道空間；這樣的無屬性空間能在面對不同的都市主要面向與機能時段，依附延伸成為其附屬空間（早上是市場、下午回歸都市通道）；然而「側向」正是為了因應不同面向而產生之變化與變動性的連結而存在。
市場一直以來是都市紋理下的斷裂帶，在市場營業時人來人往地經過；而當市場熄燈時變成黑暗不欲被進入的空間；作為都市的公共空間卻在機能暫停後成為都市的死角，以此來思考如何以人們對側向的認知去改善市場的閒置問題。
The essence of the market in Taiwan is mainly regarded as the passage space of traffic circulation lines and crowds in the city, such non-attribute space can be attached to and extended into its subsidiary space (the market in the morning and return to the urban passage in the afternoon) in the face of different urban main faces and functional periods; however, "sideways" exists precisely to cope with the changes and changes caused by different aspects.
The market has always been a fault zone under the texture of the city, passing by people when the market is open; and when the market lights out, it becomes a dark space that does not want to be entered; the public space as an urban city becomes a dead corner of the city after the function is suspended, in order to think about how to improve the idle problem of the market with people's perception of the side.
