HALT

現今的我們身處在高度數位化及自動化的資本主義社會之中,而效率因此不可避免地成為日常生活中的最高追求。然而人們在快速生活的同時,並不是一直都真的知道自己的動機或目的,只是因應著快速的社會步調行事而已。 Halt,意指停止,可以被視作一種對效率社會的反動。停止並不單只是安於現狀,反而是因為停止造成社會的停擺,屬於一種體制的破壞。 與快速行進的社會相對,人類活動中「行動」或「思考」的停滯或許就是我們所追求的正確答案。給予自己靜止緩衝的時間,是為了在這之中沉澱或重新審視自我,以期再次開始時能以更加清楚明瞭的視野及態度繼續前進。 作品為一互動影像,分成「動」與「靜」兩種階段。第一階段「動」,展示以創作者對效率社會的印象所設計出的動態影像;第二階段「靜」,將會以深度攝影機捕捉現場觀眾的輪廓,並將其投影在觀眾身上,達到禁錮、以外力停下觀眾的效果。透過強烈的動靜反差,期望能帶給觀眾「停止」的概念。 The society we live in now is one that pursues efficiency. From the development of technology, such as AI and graphic cards, to our basic needs in life, we are always looking for faster services or products. However, while society is moving faster and faster, we as human beings are not actually following along; we are only pushed by the speed of current developments. The work HALT is created as a pursuit for a stop. There are mainly two purposes for stopping, one is to make a difference in society by stopping our human behaviours, and the other is to rethink our motive and purpose in living in this society. HALT is an interactive art projection, and there are two phases in this work. The first phase is the movement of the graphics. We designed the moving graphics to our impression of the "efficient society". The second phase is the static phase. The Kinect camera would capture the audience's silhouette, and project it onto the body of the audience, to create an effect of being captured and stopped. With the intense contrast of the graphics moving and stopping, we hope to express to the audience the concept of "Halt".
