以竹代塑環保永續與竹工藝文化傳承 Replacing Plastic with Bamboo: Sustainability and Cultural Heritage

璞園藝術坊以推廣竹藝文化為核心，長期投入竹製品開發與技術傳承。本計畫以「以竹代塑：環保永續與竹工藝文化傳承」為題，聚焦竹材邊角料的再生利用，從材料選擇、黏合、成形到表面處理，系統性地探索竹工藝在永續設計領域的可能性。
Pu Yuan is dedicated to showcasing bamboo craftmanship and preserving traditional bamboo art techniques. Centered around the theme: “Replacing Plastic with Bamboo: Sustainability and Cultural Heritage", the project focuses on the creative reuse of leftover bamboo materials. From material selection, bonding, shaping to surface finishing, the team systematically explores the possibilities of bamboo craftmanship within the sustainable design.
在製程中，璞園團隊針對竹材邊角廢料進行篩選與再製，搭配天然黏合劑與拋光處理賦予其新的觸感與強度，創造出具有自然質感且可分解的竹材料，這種再生竹材具有自然紋理，也能在使用年限結束後回歸環境。以此為基礎，璞園開發兩款全新日用物件，並同步優化既有作品，如具吸震結構的竹椅、咖啡濾架與竹擴音箱，讓竹工藝在設計細節與功能表現上更趨成熟。
Throughout the production process, the Pu Yuan team chooses and reworks bamboo materials, integrating natural adhesives and polishing techniques to improve their tactile feel and durability. This approach culminates in the creation of a novel bamboo material: biodegradable, highly textured and naturally appealing that can return to the earth once its purpose is fulfilled. Pu Yuan has crafted two everyday essentials and improved existing products like shock-absorbing bamboo chairs, coffee drippers and bamboo amplifiers, thereby further elevating the integration of functionality and design within bamboo craftmanship.
除了材料實驗，教育推廣亦是這項計畫的重點。璞園藝術坊透過一系列工作坊與講座，讓參與者親手體驗竹編與雷刻，理解材料如何從廢料轉化為具有文化溫度的日常器物。
Besides material experimentation, education and community engagement are also key aspects of this project. Pu Yuan provides a series of workshops and lectures where participants can experience bamboo weaving and laser engraving, discovering how repurposed bamboo can be turned into functional items that carry cultural significance and warmth.
透過「以竹代塑」計畫，竹子從山林走進生活場景，在永續脈絡中，展現臺灣工藝的新層次。璞園藝術坊以當代視角重新詮釋傳統材料的再生潛力，讓竹材不僅是自然的象徵，更成為環保創新的媒介。
Through the “Replacing Plastic with Bamboo” project, bamboo is brought from the forest into daily life, revealing a new dimension of Taiwanese craftmanship within the sustainable movement. Pu Yuan reinterprets the regenerative potential of traditional materials, making bamboo not only a symbol of nature but also a medium of eco-friendly innovation.
