Jo Hsieh

The hand was a vital tool in Jo Hsieh’s creative process. She often spread mineral powder across the surface with her bare hands, immersing herself in the boundless depth of blue. With the addition of penetrating gold and silver powders, she built up textures and layers that produce shifting effects of light and shadow. In the resulting works, the contact and overlap between materials evoke the interweaving of spaces, offering varied sensory experiences when viewed from different angles and under changing light.
