Untitled

Jo Hsieh

Jo Hsieh was skilled at using the brush to express the textures of various materials. In Untitled, brushstrokes render a fibrous surface, while vibrant blocks of color resemble a patchwork composition. The interplay of hues reflects the musicality often seen in her works and conveys a sense of childlike fun. This work may be viewed alongside her notebooks, particularly in relation to her use of color and totemic forms. Jo Hsieh Untitled 1995 Oil pastel on paper 54 x 74 cm Courtesy of the artist's family
