「於是甘心將日子存放在燈塔內，漫漫長夜，凝成一團灰。灰裡有細細的，熱熱的光。」熠者，盛光也。從火習聲。初次抵達創作的曠野，以為來到自由宣洩靈感的樂園，卻發現無人之境滿是試煉。四年的時光，十六個季節，三百六十五乘以四加一個日夜，在嘗試、推翻、自圓其說、我覺得可、我覺得行不通的輪迴裡連滾帶爬。於是甘心將日子存放在燈塔內，漫漫長夜，凝成一團灰。灰裡有細細的，熱熱的光。終究走到了這裡，挑檢灰燼裡的火星，那是不曾在夢裡見過的璀璨。做了有什麼用？為了什麼而做？做完了要幹嘛？一切的問題似乎也不成問題。因為我知道，在燈塔裡的日子，是日、是夜、是生命，也是我自己。回顧 2019 至今的日子，疫情佔據大半校園生活，改變我們在傳統空間內學習的模式，回歸更加內省，獨立的個體空間。細數一路走來，原本的我們跟現在的我們，好像一樣，卻又存在巨大的不同；也許在連自己都不曾發現的時空間隙，我們長成了現在的模樣，在成堆的畫紙裡，在隨筆的速寫裡。前有盜火者普羅米修斯，將火焰從神的手中竊取至人間，用無休止的苦難成就人類文明；而渺小如我們不似神話壯烈，卻努力抓住那星星之火，日夜的累積結成一張網，將小小的火焰牢牢捕獲。於是我們用「熠熠」為這象徵結束與起始的展覽命名，整理過去的積累，期許未來，也能在火堆裡重生，變成更好的自己。 “So they willingly stored their days in the lighthouse. Where the long night was frozen into a pile of ash; where there is a tiny, flaming spark.” 熠 (yi) (adj.) To glow; to flash. When we first arrived in the wilderness, we thought we were in a paradise of liberation and inspiration. However, the uninhabited realm was full of trials and tribulations. Four years, sixteen seasons. The cycle of attempts, denials, self-justifications, and suspicions exploded quietly over countless nights. Finally, here we are, picking out the sparks from the ash. Though we continued experiencing frustrations during our days in the lighthouse, we still aspired for the future. In 2023, the Graduation Exhibition of National Tsing Hua University, Department of Arts and Design, focused on the “meaning” and “engagement” in creation. Looking back to 2019, covid-19 took over our campus life. It also changed the way we learn in traditional space, pushing us back to a more introspective, independent lifestyle. How many steps does it take to complete a work? Perhaps we have grown without even noticing through those scattered paper and casual sketches. If fire (火) is an immediate splendor, then practice (習), for us, is a process of effort, failure, repetition, and renewal. In Greek Mythology, Prometheus stole the fire from gods and brought it to human beings, sacrificing himself to the civilization of humans. Though we are not as heroic as the story, we still worked day and night, forming a net to catch the immediate spark of creativity. Therefore, we named the exhibition " Yi Yi (熠熠) ", symbolizing the end of our undergraduate studies, and the beginning of our future journey. We organize the results during the past four years, hoping that in the future, we can also be reborn in the fire, growing into a better version of ourselves.
