Die Wege: Darkroom and Poetry

Lîm Kun-nî | Lin Chunni, N̂g Pang-tsuân | Huang Pang-Chuan 2021 |Interactive video installation Drawing on Wang Bai-yuan’s 1931 poetry collection A Path with Briars, the title suggests an ongoing tunnelwinding upwards, with two installations, Darkroom and Poetry, on each side. Located at the end of the B1exhibition space, Darkroom invites visitors to use their hands to beckon the images of the past, which appearbriefly before slowly reverting and sublimating into silver particles. Poetry is installed on the top of the tunnel in the 3F exhibition space. Visitors are invited to read out the verses of Wang Bai-yuan’s poems; theirbeckoning will then transform and gather the rising silver particles into different scenes in front of them.Through events such as newspaper reading rooms, talks, sin-ki̍k, and motion pictures, the Taiwan CulturalAssociation, established in 1921, encourages the public to participate in cultural events in different forms and endeavors to awaken Taiwan’s cultural awareness through the latest technologies at the time. Through moderntechnology, Die Wege: Darkroom and Poetry reflects on that period, one hundred years from now, and invites the audience to celebrate the century-old cultural movement with their hands and voices. © Lin Chunni, Huang Pang-Chuan
