First in Taiwan, Connected to the World

First Commercial Bank is the earliest local private bank established in Taiwan. Its history can be traced back to the founding of Savings Bank of Taiwan in 1899, and followed by the opening of Chia-I Bank in 1905, Commercial and Industrial Bank of Taiwan in 1910, and Hsin-Kao Bank in 1916. After two mergers and acquisitions in 1912 and 1923, these three banks consolidated with Commercial and Industrial Bank of Taiwan to form a larger entity, which is considered as the first banking merger in the history of Taiwan finance. Moreover, in order to strengthen the internationalization of business, the Bank was renamed in 1976 as First Commercial Bank. “Customer First, Service Foremost” has always been the operation philosophy that First Commercial Bank adheres to. Along with the growing economy in Taiwan, First Commercial Bank went through more than hundred years of challenges and gradual expansion, transforming into an active regional bank in Asia. Furthermore, the Bank stood firm and steadfast while braving the waves of financial liberalization in the world. Based on the solid foundation of a true professional financial brand, First Commercial Bank has proudly joined the ranks of international banks. Standing astride three centuries, First Commercial Bank has experienced the great times of 120-year financial history in Taiwan. With fervent Taiwanese spirit and global vision in mind, First Commercial Bank has sustained its long-term growth through transformation and innovation, and will continue its commitment to guard, nurture, and strengthen the economy of Taiwan.
