Heart Village, located on a hillside, had several small shops run by residents because it was inconvenient to go down the hill for shopping. One of the most memorable shops was the “Guan’s Shop” near the village entrance. In the past, the villagers working in the Tri-Service General Hospital would gather near the store before taking a truck to work.
In the village, these grocery stores were like today’s convenience stores. The difference was that they not only provided essential items for daily life but also served as social hubs for residents to meet, chat and even gossip. These stores held everyday memories and created unique reminiscences of life in the village.
