群山之島 The Island of Mountains

易佑安 Yi Yu-An

「我一直覺得創作是你要先可以感動自己,而後才可以感動別人。」 "I’ve always believed that to create something meaningful, it must first move yourself before it can move others." 出身都會的漆工藝家,一路走來專精於美術與工藝學習,也在畢業後為人師表教授 漆工藝,並定時前往漆藝代表國家日本進修、添購材料進行創作,如今則重返校 園,於日本金澤美術工藝大學進修博士後課程,深入鑽研漆工藝。在漆藝大國裡, 接收到有別於台灣教育與研究方式的文化思維,也因身處金澤自然環境與個人都會 成長背景的差異性,啟發日本時期創作的非典型漆工藝品。 《群山之島》回應台灣作為多山的島嶼,每座山峰擁有獨特的地理型態和自然特 徵,工藝家透過高超的漆藝技術,擬真金澤常見的青苔,也從中看見人與自然和諧 相處的樣貌,因此《群山之島》也寓意著人與人之間看似各自獨立,但實則存在著 相互依存和族群聯繫。透過漆工藝轉化為飾品配戴於身,讓人們回憶起對自然的景 仰,也是對人際關係的思考和尊重。 Originating from an urban background, this lacquer artisan Yi Yu-An has honed her expertise through a dedicated journey of art and craft education. After graduating, Yi transitioned into teaching lacquer techniques and regularly traveled to Japan, a nation renowned for its lacquer art, to further her studies and source materials for her creations. Now pursuing a postdoctoral program at Kanazawa College of Art in Japan, she delves deeper into the world of lacquer art. Immersed in Kanazawa’s natural surroundings and exposed to a culture distinct from Taiwan’s educational and research methods, Yi has drawn inspiration to create atypical lacquer artworks that reflect their experiences. The Island of Mountains pays homage to Taiwan, an island rich in mountainous terrain where each peak boasts unique geographical and natural features. Through masterful lacquer techniques, the artisan emulates the moss commonly found in Kanazawa, evoking the harmony between humans and nature. This work symbolizes the interconnectedness of individuals—seemingly independent yet inherently interdependent within communities. By transforming lacquer craftsmanship into wearable accessories, The Island of Mountains invites wearers to reflect on their reverence for nature and the importance of interpersonal relationships, rooted in mutual respect and connection. 易佑安 Yi Yu-An 從國中便就從美術班開始,一路接受美術教育,畢業自國立臺灣藝術大學工藝設計學系及研究所,自認骨子裡有愛畫畫的基因,從大學時期開始透過畫筆塗繪進入漆藝領域,自此認定漆藝並潛心鑽研並創作,亦經常 往返日本、中國見學漆工藝,對漆工藝擁有深厚情感。現於日本金澤美術工藝大學博士後課程進修,持續以 創新媒材結合漆藝創作發展。 科班出身的易佑安,有感於臺日教育文化體系、出身都會與當前山野自然圍繞的生活環境等差異,於本展分 別帶來臺、日時期各呈現不同面向的漆工藝作品,從中可見回應地景特質,並展現風格、作法與主題性的迥 異與多元,讓人看出其高超漆工藝技術與創作面向。此特色顯見於《群山之島》系列作品。 From as early as middle school, Yi Yu-An began her artistic journey in specialized art classes and continued to receive formal art education. She graduated from the Department of Crafts and its graduate program at the National Taiwan University of Arts, believing she possesses an innate passion for painting. During her university years, she ventured into the field of lacquer art through her painting, a medium she quickly embraced and devoted herself to mastering. Over the years, she has frequently traveled to Japan and China to study lacquer craftsmanship, fostering a deep emotional connection to this art form. Currently, Yi is pursuing a postdoctoral program at Kanazawa College of Art in Japan, where she continues to explore innovative materials in combination with lacquer art to push creative boundaries. A formally trained artist, Yi reflects on the contrasts between the educational and cultural systems of Taiwan and Japan, as well as the differences between her urban upbringing and her current life surrounded by nature. In her latest exhibition, she presents lacquer works from both her time in Taiwan and Japan, showcasing diverse facets of her artistry. These pieces reveal her responses to the unique qualities of each landscape, while also highlighting the distinct styles, techniques, and themes developed in these periods. Through her exceptional craftsmanship and multifaceted creations, Yi’s mastery of lacquer art is evident, captivating viewers with her innovative and skillful approach. This unique aesthetic is exemplified in the The Island of Mountains series.
